The beauty of retirement is that you can choose your adventure. For some, that means exploring new places until you land on one that feels just right. Others embark on a whole new career. Cynthia and Mark Bordash did both. The couple, our newest owners at Naples Motorcoach Resort, started talking about growing and selling Christmas trees in the late ‘90s, and took the leap while still working in their respective careers and while their kids were in school.
Sometimes, you just know. Beyond the beauty, amenities or setting, it just feels right. That’s so often the way it is when you visit Naples Motorcoach Resort for the first time, and it’s how Fred and Judy Barlow from Bethany Beach, Delaware instantly turned from surprise visitors into proud and happy owners.
“We were headed down to the Keys and we stopped by another resort next door to here,” the couple explains. “But we came over here and took a look at Naples, and we bought the next day. We were settled in within 10 days! We fell in love with this place.”
After buying seven years ago, the couple now spends more than half the year at Naples, taking advantage of the wide range of resort amenities. Fred and Judy take part in the many on-site events and activities that foster great friendships among owners and guests. “We love the amenities here, the beautiful landscaping, and the socializing. We come to Coffee Clutch every day and to the dinners like Comfort Food Mondays and Taco Tuesdays.”
They also love exploring what makes Naples the happiest city in the country for the past three years, as well as one of the wealthiest. “We got a property in Naples for under $100,000 dollars — a Naples zip code for under $100,000 dollars, which we thought was great! Fifth Avenue South is 8 miles away. There is all the dining you need, all the shopping, the Gulf of Mexico for fisherman — it has everything! We’re down here for seven months every year, and we enjoy it; we thoroughly do.”
Over the years Fred and Judy have spent at the resort, they have had a unique view of how it has grown and improved: “The resort’s developer is doing a great job and is running this place so well. It is a five-star resort that has the atmosphere of a country club. The management team at the resort is first-rate! We thoroughly enjoy what the developer has provided us for our relaxation.”
One of their favorite perks is that when they don’t feel like being so active, they can choose to kick back and take in the beautiful surroundings. “If you want a place to be yourself, participate in things as much as you want or just relax and do nothing, this place offers it all,” the Barlows say. “At our age, we were looking for a place to relax, and Naples suits us perfectly. It answers all of our questions about what we were going to do. We love it here.”
