Born and raised in Indianapolis, Dana and Sheila Voelkel have known each other since elementary school. At an early age, the adventurous couple spent countless vacations camping, hunting and fishing together with their families, who were good friends.

Naples has always been a familiar destination for Sheila, whose family works in the mobile home business and traveled often in their motorhome, with Florida as a mainstay every year.

Longtime guests-turned-owners the Voelkels discovered Naples Motorcoach Resort in its early years and well before many others ever visited. Back in the day, the now pristine motorcoach resort was converted from a mobile home park.

“Little did we know we would actually own there one day,” says the couple, who began vacationing at Naples Motorcoach Resort in 2011. They spent just a few days for the first season. But with every yearly visit, they extended their stay for weeks and then months, before eventually becoming owners of a picturesque Coral Keys lot that perfectly fits their Class A 2018 Tiffin. “The Gulf Coast seemed more warm and friendly than the East Coast.”

Activities like morning pickleball games, Wednesday night trivia, and afternoons at “The Kool Pool” fill up their days. And access to the beach, fishing, paddle boarding, clay shooting, golfing and plenty more makes the Naples area an unbeatable year-round destination for everyone. “If you can’t find something to do, you aren’t looking,” the outdoor duo says.

One of the Voelkels’ favorite activities last year was the Tiki Crawl around our resort. But they also frequent the Downtown Naples scene. From an upscale Fifth Avenue restaurant with white tablecloths, to beach bars on the Isle of Capri, “find the mood you’re in and go that way” — take it from some of our beloved owners at Naples Motorcoach Resort.
